Frequently Asked Questions
Bronze memorial plaques are made by casting or precision tooling, depending on the layout and detail level. All plaques feature raised lettering and traditional background textures. Both methods create durable signs that honor individuals or events, indoors or out.
We offer brushed satin, polished, and oxidized finishes, all sealed with a protective clear coat. Over time, bronze may naturally darken or develop a greenish patina, enhancing character without affecting readability.
Each memorial plaque can be tailored with your choice of background texture, border style, raised logos, and font. You can also include a portrait or custom image, and we can match background colors to a specific shade using Pantone references if needed.
Portraits and images on bronze plaques can be created using bas relief, photo relief, etched metal, or UV printing. - Bas Relief: Hand-sculpted in clay and cast in bronze - Photo Relief: Converted from a photo and cast in low relief - Etched Metal: Best for line art or renderings - UV Printed: Full-color image printed on metal for indoor or covered use
Most bronze memorial plaques include a name, dates, and a short dedication or quote. You can also add historical context, accomplishments, or a meaningful phrase. See our guide for examples and tips: Memorial Plaque Wording Tips (https://www.impactsigns.com/memorial-plaque-wording/)
Bronze plaques are often installed in gardens, parks, university buildings, hospital wings, cultural institutions, and houses of worship. We offer mounting options for installation on stone, brick, concrete, or wood surfaces.
Our plaque layout artists are among the best in the industry. After your deposit is received, we begin crafting a digital proof showing layout, font sizing, images, and finish. - We lay out your wording in a clear and elegant format - You can submit a layout if already designed — we may suggest refinements - Layout begins only after deposit due to the custom design time involved - We include up to 2 rounds of revisions to finalize your design
Letter sizing and spacing are influenced by the plaque’s dimensions and font choice. We recommend a minimum letter height of ¼″ for all caps and ⅜″ for mixed-case text. Our team will guide you on what’s feasible based on your content.
We provide mounting options such as blind studs, through-face screws, and decorative rosettes — all compatible with masonry surfaces. We’ll recommend the best mounting solution based on your installation surface and setting.
Most plaques are completed within 4–5 weeks after final proof approval and payment. For plaques with sculpted portraits or custom finishes, additional time may be required. Rush service and mock plaques are available — please check with us before finalizing event dates.
